Festspiel Favourites

Unexpected musical experiences and personal encounters are trademarks of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The festival programme includes a broad range of series and »festivals within the festival«, where visitors can discover and focus on particular elements through a wide range of supplementary activities such as guided tours, listening experiments, artist talks and discussions over several days.
Promising young artists from all over the world present themselves in the series »Junge Elite« and »Bothmer-Musik«. The »Landpartie« invites you to a musical excursion to the countryside. And the »Grenzgänge« format takes you into the young jazz scene. Discover more about our various Festspiel elements here.

Nicht ganz klassisch

Off the classical paths

After the successful premiere in 2022, the next festival summer will see a new round of our »Nicht ganz klassisch« (»Not quite classical«) series: when up-and-coming musicians from the young jazz scene perform virtuosically at the »Grenzgänge« or established artists discover new aspects of music for themselves, there will be something for every taste.

The German-Iranian actress and singer Jasmin Tabatabai »hunts deers« in her programme, Gisbert zu Knyphausen »makes mad dogs howl« and the SIGNUM Saxophone quartet, with pianist Kai Schumacher, manages the balancing act between midnight contemplation and club ecstasy. In the park of Bothmer Castle, Till Brönner plays jazz with the NDR Big Band and makes every picnic blanket float. On the spacious grounds of Schloss Bröllin, the Detect Classic Festival offers the ideal symbiosis of genres for festival-goers who love to explore.
