Festspielfrühling Rügen

The Festspielfrühling Rügen is the spring festival of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and invites you to musical discoveries and personal concerts with selected artists over ten days in March. Prizewinners of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern take over the artistic direction of the Festspielfrühling Rügen and create made-to-order programmes for the island together with musician friends and companions.

In spring 2024, the Danish String Quartet will take over the artistic direction of the 12th Festival Spring Rügen. The string quartet was awarded the NORDMETALL Ensemble Prize of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 2010 and will celebrate its 20th anniversary in the 2022/2023 season. As artistic director, the Danish String Quartet will be performing on the island of Rügen from 8 to 17 March 2024 alongside, among others, Festival Prize winner Matthias Schorn and exciting musicians from their Danish homeland, such as the Danish National Girl's Choir or the folk ensemble Dreamer's Circus. In 2024, the Nordperdhalle will be dedicated to the piano: »One stage - four pianos« is the motto of the evening with classical music, jazz and boogie-woogie, performed by Sebastian Knauer, Joja Wendt, Axel Zwingenberger and Martin Tingvall.
